Boun Khao Phansa (Entering the rainy season in Laos, and others southeastern Asian countries), marks the start of Buddhist Lent. It starts the full moon day of July and ends on the full moon of October. The Buddhist monks take retreat and stay in one place for three months for deepening their theoretical study & meditation practice. Only in emergency issues, they could leave such as sickness of parents or otherwise but no more than 7 days. The 8th night they must be in the temple. Lay people take opportunity to celebrate with performing meritorious deeds such as giving Dāna and observing the precepts.
In the afternoon, followed by the Lao Language Seminar session, provided by Teacher Saly Chittavoravong. This is the rare opportunity to refresh your Lao linguistic abilities, for any age or any level of Lao language knowledge.
