Boun Vesak Pūjā Day is a significant Buddhist holiday that commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha. It is observed on the full moon day of the lunar month of Vesākha, which usually falls in April, May, or June. The day is marked by various observances, including the presentation of food and alms to monks, and the wearing of white clothes to symbolize purity.

  • 10:00 AM: Gathering of all participants.
  • 10:15 AM: Start of the religious ceremony: receiving precepts, paying homage to the Triple Gem, and dedicating merit to relatives.
  • 10:30 AM: The monks chant auspicious Paritta verses, alms giving.
  • 10:45 AM – 11:15 AM: Teaching and sermon by monks.
  • 11:30 AM: Offering meal to monks.
  • 12:00 PM: Lay persons have lunch.

EVENING: CANDLE PROCESSION (VIEN THIEN)

  • 6:30 PM: Gathering to prepare for Vien Thien.
  • 7:00 PM: Lighting candles for the candle procession.
